V Blender

Aggressive diffusion blending for critical pharmaceutical and chemical formulations requiring maximum homogeneity.

V Blender

About the V Blender

The V Blender — also known as a Twin Shell Blender — is defined by its iconic V-shaped vessel formed by joining two cylindrical shells at a precise angle. As the vessel rotates about its horizontal axis, the material charge is subjected to a constant, rapid cycle of splitting and recombining. This diffusion-blending mechanism creates a vigorous and highly effective mixing action, making it one of the most widely used technologies for achieving high-level homogeneity in dry powder blending.

Unlike ribbon or paddle blenders, the V Blender has no internal moving parts — the vessel itself is the agitator. This makes it extremely easy to clean, validates readily for GMP environments, and eliminates the risk of product contamination from shaft seals or bearings. Intensifier bars and spray nozzles can be added for lump breaking or liquid addition.

Key Applications

Core Advantages

Aggressive Mixing Action
Continuous splitting and recombining generates high internal velocities — fast and thorough blends with short cycle times.
No Internal Moving Parts
The vessel itself is the agitator — no shaft seals, no bearings, no internal contamination risk.
Excellent Homogeneity
Ideal for critical formulations where even a minute concentration difference impacts product efficacy or quality.
Effective with Dense Materials
Powerful action handles materials with significant density differences that gentler blenders struggle with.
No Dead Spots
V-geometry ensures all material is in constant motion throughout the cycle — eliminating unmixed pockets.
Easy Clean & GMP Ready
Wide-opening discharge and polished internal surfaces support rapid CIP and validated cleaning protocols.
